Watlow introduces adaptive control algorithm temperature controllers

Watlow's Series SD family of PID temperature controllers now feature the Tru-Tune+ adaptive control algorithm, which offers tighter control for demanding temperature/process applications in industries such as plastics, packaging, life sciences, process and semiconductor equipment manufacturing. The controller fine tunes thermal loops more precisely than typical auto-tune features, and provides stable control through set point and load changes, reducing scrap and rework, even when conditions vary.

The single-channel controllers include a universal sensor input with up to three outputs that can be programmed for heat or cool temperature control as well as process or deviation alarms.

Series SD controllers feature EIA-485 Modbus serial communications; Infosense sensor technology, which improves sensor accuracy by a minimum of 50 percent; a patented user definable menu system that allows the user to select which parameters will appear in the operations menu; and a “save and restore” feature that allows the user to save their settings or the factory settings, eliminating the need to call the OEM or factory to restore settings.

The controllers are supported by Watview, Watlow's Windows-based HMI (human machine interface) software. The software can be used to set-up, monitor and edit the values of controller parameters, monitor and manage alarms and log and graph process data.

Available in 1/32-, 1/16-, 1/8- and 1/4-DIN panel mount sizes, the Series SD products include UL, C-UL, CSA and CE certification and include a NEMA 4X (IP65) seal.
